How to deal with fleas in your backyard

Your backyard may be harboring unwanted fleas.

Protecting your home from fleas is important for any pet owner, but your dog may may also be at risk in the backyard. Even in cold temperatures, fleas can survive and breed outdoors until they find a host animal, according to PetCareRx. If your dog spends time in the yard, it's important to keep your lawn and outdoor areas free from flea infestation.

Hartz® UltraGuard® Yard and Kennel Spray will protect your dog from fleas that may be living in your backyard. These bugs prefer cool, shady or moist areas, and avoid direct sunlight. Bushes, small trees and leaves may be susceptible to infestation, but fleas will also gravitate toward wherever your dog is most active.

In order to best protect your pet, treat your yard only after the lawn is has been mowed and weeds and debris has been removed. Keep your dog out of the area until you are sure flea treatment is complete, or any pests left behind may still eventually infest your furry friend.
