How to give your dog a proper flea bath

Flea baths are a safe and effective means of ridding your dog of any flea problems.

Preventing a potential flea infestation is important for keeping your dog safe, but if unwanted pests do find their way onto your pup, one of the best strategies for removing the bugs once and for all is with a flea bath.

According to Flea Bites, only consider using flea shampoo once it is clear your dog's incessant scratching is caused by fleas. Examine his fur for adult fleas, larvae or eggs, starting either behind the ears or around the neck.

Hartz® UltraGuard® Flea and Tick Shampoos are designed to kill off any bothersome critters. Use the shampoo in the same way you would any other. Avoid the eyes and lather and massage until all of your dog's fur has been treated. Let the shampoo sit for a few minutes, and then rinse and towel dry. Depending on the severity of your dog's flea infestation, it may be necessary to repeat the process after a few days to fully destroy any remaining fleas.
